BI Distributes Rp11
trillion New Bankotes
TEMPO.CO,Jakarta – Bank
Indonesia (BI) deputy governor Ronald Waas said the central bank has
distributed some Rp11 trillion of new bankotes in the first week of Ramadan. BI
estimated the public would require about Rp118,5 trillion in cash during the
Eid holiday season.
Was
said 92 percent of the bankotes comprises of bills worth higher than Rp20,000.
The remaining eight percent, he said, are small changes of Rp10,000 and lower.
BI
previously said there is a 14,9 percent growth in cash needs for this year’s
Eid season. In 2013, the people needed Rp103,2 trillion in cash during the Eid
holidays. This bank projected a total need of Rp118,5 trillion.
